Aaya Kassem

Aaya Kassem

I’m a 16 year old Moroccan-Palestinian artist. And although I had always been fond of art and drawing, I started my art journey in 2018 after being “discovered” by my Islamic teacher for my skill in Arabic calligraphy. After he urged me to, I joined his after school class and developed my skills as well as my love for making art. That class really inspired me to take art more seriously and here we are now. My art consists of continuous experimentation with different subjects, styles, mediums and techniques. I’m mainly interested in graffiti, calligraphy, portraits and surrealism but I’m always open to trying new stuff.

Aaya Kassem: Abstract Painter

Based in Saudi Arabia, I am an emerging abstract painter who uses color and space to articulate the depths of human emotion. A recent finance graduate, I find my true expression not in numbers, but in the boundless language of art. I am guided by the belief that painting is a form of poetry felt through sight, capable of expressing the profound feelings that words, facial expressions, and body language often fail to capture. For me, every canvas holds depth, secrets, and a story waiting to be understood by those who value the narrative behind each color.

My artistic journey began in a high school art class, where my passion and natural talent quickly flourished. My teacher’s encouragement led me to a competition in Islamic calligraphy, which our school won, boosting my confidence and setting me on a dedicated artistic path.

Today, my work is centered on abstract canvas paintings, exploring styles such as Abstract Expressionism and Geometric Abstraction. In the spirit of Abstract Expressionism, I channel what I feel — often big, emotional, and chaotic sensations directly onto the canvas. This is balanced by my use of Geometric Abstraction, where structured forms combine into compelling, non-objective compositions.

My art is born from emotion, crafted for viewers who see beyond the canvas to connect with its soul. In an effort to reach international prominence, I want to see my work in museums and auctions, captivating audiences for generations to come.
